The Zamfara State government has received 65,982 doses of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine for the second round of doses, in the state.

The second round of the doses of the Covid-19 vaccine will only be administered to those who did not receive the first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine.

The Chairman of the Task Force on Covid-19 in Zamfara State, who is also the Speaker of the state’s Assembly, Nasiru Muazu, applauded the kind gesture of the donor of the doses of Moderna Covid-19 vaccine to the state.

The 65,982 Moderna Covid-19 vaccines were donated to Zamfara State by the United States of American Government through the Federal Ministry of Health.

The first round of the doses of the Covid-19 vaccine that was received by the Zamfara State Government was AstraZeneca that has been administered to eligible persons.

The Chairman of the Covid-19 Task Force, who received the Moderna covid-19 vaccine on behalf of the state government, assured that the Zamfara State Government will redouble its efforts to control and prevent the coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The Permanent Secretary supervising the Zamfara State Ministry of Health, Habibu Yelwa, said the 65, 982 Moderna Covid-19 vaccine received could be connected to the performance of the state government during the first round of the vaccination.

The representatives of the National Centre For Disease Control, NCDC, Halimatu Ayanleke, and that of the National Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Namadi Lawal, commended the Zamfara State Government efforts at preventing the spread of the Covid-19 disease.

Residents of Zamfara State who are eligible to receive the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine are those who did not receive the first jab of the AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccine, who must be 18 years old and above.
