No fewer than three persons including a policeman have been killed by suspected bandits who invaded the Bakura College of Agriculture and Animal Science in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State, North-West Nigeria.

Deputy Registrar of the institution, Aliyu Atiku, who confirmed the incident to reporters says 15 students and 4 staff including 3 women were also abducted by the bandits to an undisclosed location.

Atiku said the suspected bandits stormed the College at about 10.00 pm Sunday night and in a deadly operation that lasted for more than one and half hours.

It was gathered that two staff and one student out of the number of those abducted escaped from the hands of their abductors and have returned to the College in the early hours of Monday.

The Deputy registrar also said that those killed by the bandits were 2 security guards of the College and a policeman.

Efforts to reach out to the police to confirm the incident at the time of this report were unsuccessful as the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu was not responding to calls and text messages made to him.

It would be recalled that this is not the first time the College of Agriculture and Animals Science would suffer such an attack. The Provost of the College, Habibu Mainasara was abducted by bandits about two months ago, though not on the premises of the institution but near the area.
