Evan Rachel Wood is reacting to Marilyn Manson’s surprise appearance at Kanye West’s third listening event Thursday for his highly-anticipated album, “Donda,” which finally arrived Sunday.
Days after the rocker, whom she accused of sexual assault and abuse, stood on stage alongside West and controversial rapper DaBaby, the “Westworld” actress subtly responded by performing a cover of New Radicals’ “You Get What You Give.” Manson (born Brian Warner) was also given a song credit for West’s song “Jail pt 2.”
“I’ve been saving this but it seems like the appropriate time,” Wood prefaced the song.
During the five-minute performance, she put up a middle finger as she sang Manson’s name, and the crowd erupted into cheers. His name is among the lyrics of the song: “Fashion shoots with Beck and Hanson/Courtney Love and Marilyn Manson/You’re all fakes/Run to your mansions/Come around, we’ll kick your (expletive).”
Wood shared the clip on Instagram and captioned the post: “For my fellow survivors who got slapped in the face this week. I love you. Don’t give up.”

Wood received support in the comments, with actress Rumer Willis calling Wood “a powerhouse warrior woman.”
In February, Wood revealed in an Instagram post that Manson, 52, had “started grooming me when I was a teenager.” The two dated on and off in the late 2000s and got engaged in 2010, before she got back together with “Billy Elliot” star Jamie Bell, whom she married in 2012. They divorced in 2014.
“I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission,” Wood, 33, added. “I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives. I stand with the many victims who will no longer be silent.”

Manson denied her claims that same day, writing “Obviously, my art and my life have long been magnets for controversy, but these recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality” in a statement on Instagram.
More allegations of abuse have been made against the rocker over the past year. Ashley Morgan Smithline is the fourth person to file suit against Manson, with her June lawsuit alleging she was sexually, emotionally and physically abused while dating him.
In July, Manson turned himself in to the Los Angeles Police Department on an outstanding warrant involving assault charges and was released on bail with conditions, according to police. However, social media users were surprised to see the disgraced singer at Chicago’s Soldier Field Stadium over the weekend.
“I don’t have to tell you guys about DaBaby so I’ll tell you about Marilyn he has 4 sexual assault allegations as of July 2021,” @NotYetUhuru_ wrote.
“Kanye about to assemble the cancelled avengers with DaBaby and Marilyn Manson #DONDA,” @lil_robitussin1 wrote.
