The father of the Speaker of Zamfara State House of Assembly, Muazu Magarya, and five others have been abducted by suspected bandits.
Sources said the incident occurred when the suspected bandits invaded the Magarya community in the Zurmi Local Government Area of Zamfara State, kidnapped the Speaker’s father, Mu’azu Magarya, his stepmother, and four other persons in the community.
The locals explained that the bandits stormed the community on motorcycles, and started shooting sporadically to scare people away to allow them to carry out their dastardly act.
The Zamfara State Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Mohammed Shehu, confirmed the development.
He said the police has since deployed its tactical team to conduct search and rescue operations in the area to ensure that the Speaker’s father and the five others are rescued unhurt.
