An 11-month-old baby girl was shot to death following a domestic dispute at her Alabama home Tuesday afternoon.

The baby’s mother, who is a Jefferson County deputy, and her father are both in custody after police confiscated several weapons from the Birmingham home, according to WBRC.

Another child was home at the time of the altercation, the local station reported.

“We are completely saddened by the loss of this precious child,” Jefferson County Sheriff Sgt. Joni Money said in a statement to the Fox affiliate.

“At this time, our goal is to provide support to one of our own in dealing with that tremendous loss.”
