A Minna High Court Judge has sentenced a rape suspect to life imprisonment.

Another sentence passed on the suspect, Ugochukwu Nnadumeme, according to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in Niger State, Deputy Superintendent of Police Wasiu Abiodun, said the suspect was also included in one-year imprisonment for the offence of voluntarily causing hurt without provocation on the victim.

The statement hinted that on May 3, 2018, the suspect was arrested for raping a female corps member who was serving in Lapai Local Government Area of Niger State.

The female corps member was being conveyed by the suspect along the Lapai-Agaie road when he criminally assaulted and raped the victim after diverting into a forest.

The policemen from the Agaie Division arrested the suspect and the case was transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department

The State Command of the Nigerian Police filed two charges before the Minna High Court for prosecution.

Eight witnesses were presented as proof for the allegations against the suspect.
