A 14-year-old girl was killed and at least 14 other people injured in a shooting at an illegal concert in a South Carolina neighborhood on Saturday night, a report said.
Multiple gunmen opened fire into the crowded concert in a residential area of North Charleston at about 10:30 p.m., WCIV reported, citing police.
A motive to the deadly shooting is unclear, but North Charleston Police Chief Reggie Burgess said Sunday that “the individuals were angry at each other and they didn’t care who got hit.”
The identity of the young victim has not yet been released and police did not immediately provide suspect descriptions.
Burgess on Sunday said the concert set-up was illegal because, in part, alcohol was being sold on private property.
“Something happened here that should have never happened,” the police chief said.
“They should have never been set up in the first place here. That young girl lost her life and 14 other people got victimized.”
