The Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum has asked the Federal Government to declare a state of emergency on security and urgently come up with proactive strategies to restore peace and security to all parts of the county.
The forum also called for the immediate restructuring of the country, considering the precarious prevailing atmosphere before any further elections.
Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum also urged the Federal Government to heed the genuine and reasonable nationwide calls for a transparent national dialogue, and take urgent steps towards restructuring and birthing a new constitution to bring back equitable harmony to the country.
The leaders forum also reminded all political parties, including the ruling All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party that the basis of any viable democracy rests in fair and even sharing of power.
These was part of the communique issued at the end of its meeting in Abuja on Sunday.
