Britain’s Got Talent has taken the nation by storm this year with the weird and wonderful, funny and touching acts seen throughout the auditions.
Tonight, the show moves to the semi-finals, where two acts will qualify for the live final on Sunday night, and one will be crowned this year’s winner, following in the footsteps of Lost Voice Guy who won the 2018 series.
Looking back on his win, Lee Ridley spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about his time on the show and how he nearly missed the final.
Discussing the moment he won the grand prize, the comedian said: “I still can’t quite believe that I did, to be honest. It was a very special moment.
“Of course, I never expected to win it. In fact, I had to cancel my summer holiday because it clashed with the final!
“It was definitely worth it though. I think the look on my face when I won said it all,” he remarked.
Lee also revealed what the best moment of the series was for him: “Obviously the best moment has to be when I won the whole thing.
“There was a lot of fun moments on the show but nothing is going to beat winning the whole thing....not even getting kisses from all the D-Day Darlings!
“The look of pride on the faces of my family after I had won will be something that I’ll never forget. It felt amazing to know that I had made them proud.”
As for the semi-finals, fans can expect to see all the Golden Buzzer acts perform throughout the week.
Rock band Chapter 13 are representing Amanda Holden, whilst Giorgia Borg is Alesha Dixon’s choice.
Hoping to take the title for David Walliams is Flakefleet Primary School choir, with Kojo Anim hoping to make Simon Cowell proud.
Viewers will also remember how Ant and Dec chose Akshat Singh as their Golden Buzzer act following his incredible dance routine.
However, according to bookmakers, Flakefleet Primary School choir are going to steal the show once more.
Following their incredibly joyful and happy auction, Coral have tipped them to be this years winners.
“The choir are now our clear favourites once more to win Britain’s Got Talent this year. Punters are backing them in their numbers to be the ones to go all the way,” said Coral’s Harry Aitkenhead.
Lee is currently touring around the UK and he spoke about the success he’s been having.
“I’m really excited to be on my first solo tour. During my BGT experience the general public were so supportive of me and everyone has been really lovely since, so it’s nice to give something back to them on tour.
“I’m excited to meet everyone and I hope they enjoy the show. The tour show is a typical Lost Voice Guy show, it’ll be cheeky, mischievous and, most of all, very funny.”
As well as a tour, Lee has been busy writing his first ever book, which was released earlier this month.
“It’s always been a dream of mine to write a book, so I’m delighted to have had the opportunity to do it. It’s called ‘I’m Only In It For The Parking’ and it [was] published in May.”
“It’s basically all about the stupid questions people ask me because I’m disabled. My favourites in the book are, ‘Have you ever tried to talk just to see what would happen?’ And, ‘Are you as clever as Stephen Hawking?’ Spoiler alert - I’m not!”
Britain’s Got Talent 2019 airs tonight at 7.30pm on ITV for the first live semi-final.
