Florence Welch attends Christine and The Queens Brixton gig

Christine & The Queens kicked off her UK tour at Brixton Academy last night, where she paid tribute to RuPaul in an emotional speech.
Florence Welch was in attendance at the sold out London show, in which Christine, her band and dancers were visibly humbled by the reaction they received for their visual spectacular – as many standing ovations erupted throughout the evening.
At one point, the ‘Tilted’ star paid tribute to the capital, as it was in London where Héloïse Letissier met a collective of drag queens who first helped her find her voice and form the concept of Christine & The Queens.
“Speaking of drag queens – RuPaul tweeted me,” she said to the elation of the crowd. “That’s like being baptised man…to quote her ‘if you can’t love yourself, how can you love anybody else, baby?'”
Bidding farewell to the audience, she said: “I feel like Bruce Springsteen, but without all the CDs”. She added that was a “tiny French singer with a tiny French repertoire,” but would return soon with a second album.

Christine & The Queens recently spoke out against Donald Trump, comparing his campaign to a ‘cycle of destruction’.
