Sherlock series

Sherlock series four is set to return to our screens in January 2017 and the BBC have revealed the titles of the first two episodes.
Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman recently finished shooting the new three-episode series where they will be joined once again by Amanda Abbington as Mary Morstan, as well as by a new villain played by Toby Jones.

Taking to Twitter to share the news, BBC One wrote: "We can confirm that the titles of #Sherlock Series Four, episodes one and two are 'The Six Thatchers' and 'The Lying Detective'." No further details of the episodes have been announced.

As pointed out by Digital Spy, 'The Six Thatchers' could be linked to Doyle's 'The Adventure Of The Six Napoleons', whilst 'The Lying Detective' may be a spin on the book series' 'The Adventure Of The Dying Detective'.

The BBC previously revealed that series four will begin with Cumberbatch's title character "back once more on British soil as Doctor Watson and his wife, Mary, prepare for their biggest ever challenge - becoming parents for the first time".

The show's last series, which also consisted of three episodes, aired in 2014. Cumberbatch and Freeman first played Doyle's iconic characters in 2010.
