Dresses that made as big an exit as they made an entrance were the biggest thing on the Logies red carpet.
Lace, beading and lots of peek-a-boo cutouts and plunging backs led the pack in colours that were on trend, dominated by shades of red, burgundy and plum.With more trains than Flinders Street Station, the red carpet was a sea of billowing gowns that presented a tripping hazard as the stars of the small screen angled to get their moment in the spotlight.
Channel Nine presenter and Myer ambassador Lauren Phillips, in a plum creation by newcomer Con Ilio, said the designer "kept sending me photos threatening to make the train longer".
Phillips said she wanted to do something different for this year's Logies, and was even sporting a faux fringe, which she said may "come off later in the night".
Deciding what to wear to the Logies the year after you win gold is never going to be an easy decision.
After taking the top prize in 2015 in silvery blue, complete with a beanie to raise awareness for brain cancer, Carrie Bickmore chose a gothic-inspired black lace dress - with requisite train - by Adelaide designer Paolo Sebastian.
Dresses big on detail were also popular, with Bickmore's high-necked design featuring leather and raffia for those able to get close enough to the Project co-host.
High necklines were also popular, with Neighbours actress Olympia Valance revealing her J'Aton Couture creation was a moveable feast until the last minute, the bell sleeves and collar added at the last minute.
